Harry Kane has become the fastest player in Bundesliga history to reach 100 goals, achieving the landmark in just 98 league appearances for Bayern Munich. The England captain scored twice in Bayern’s 7-0 victory over Union Berlin on Saturday, bringing his century in 31 fewer games than the previous record holder, Dieter Müller.

Kane’s first goal of the match, a composed finish in the first half, took him to 100 Bundesliga goals. He added a second later in the game to move to 101. The 33-year-old has now scored 152 goals in 154 appearances across all competitions for Bayern since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

A record built on consistency

The previous record for the fastest 100 Bundesliga goals belonged to Cologne striker Dieter Müller, who needed 129 games to reach the mark in the 1970s and early 1980s. Kane has shattered that benchmark by more than a full season’s worth of matches. His scoring rate of a goal every 78.3 minutes in the Bundesliga is the best among modern elite strikers, surpassing Erling Haaland (one every 87 minutes), Robert Lewandowski (one every 100 minutes) and Gerd Müller (one every 105 minutes).

Kane has won the Bundesliga top scorer award, the Torjägerkanone, in each of his three seasons in Germany — a feat no player had previously achieved in their first three campaigns. He is also a contender for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with the winner set to be announced in London on 26 October.

What the record means for Bayern and the Bundesliga

Kane’s goal-scoring consistency has been a cornerstone of Bayern’s domestic dominance. Last season he scored 61 goals in 51 matches across all competitions, and he is on track to surpass 200 total goals for the club before the end of the 2026/27 campaign if he maintains his current rate. His arrival in 2023 filled the gap left by Robert Lewandowski’s departure and has kept Bayern at the top of German football.

For the Bundesliga, Kane’s record adds to the league’s history of elite marksmen. The fact that an English striker now holds the fastest-century record in a German league traditionally defined by German and Polish goal-scorers underscores the international reach of the modern game. It also provides a compelling narrative for the league’s global broadcast partners and sponsors.

Kane’s reaction and what comes next

Speaking after the match, Kane said: “Very proud, to be honest, to reach 100 goals in the Bundesliga. Obviously, I’ve done it in the Premier League, so now to have it in a different league is something I’m really proud of. All I can say is a big thanks to the team.”

With 101 Bundesliga goals now to his name, Kane is already looking toward the next milestone. He needs 67 more to match Gerd Müller’s all-time Bundesliga record of 268 goals for Bayern, a target that would require several more seasons at his current scoring rate. For now, the focus remains on Bayern’s title defence and Kane’s pursuit of a fourth consecutive Torjägerkanone.
