Official Detached Amidst Drug Trafficking Investigation

Luna Suyai Ortigoza, who held the position of director at the Integral Territorial Center for Gender and Diversity Policies in Morón, has been dismissed from her duties. The decision came after authorities discovered approximately half a kilogram of cocaine at her home as part of a larger investigation into drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms. The municipality confirmed her detachment on Friday, the same day the discoveries were made.

Police Operation Uncovers Narcotics and Weapons

The Federal Police conducted a series of eight raids across the Morón and Merlo districts. These operations were aimed at dismantling networks involved in the storage, distribution, and street-level sale of narcotics. During the raids, police seized a total of 1.717 kilograms of cocaine in solid form, along with 241 grams of marijuana. Additionally, two digital scales, cash amounting to $24,800, a .32 caliber revolver, a .22 caliber magazine, three .32 caliber cartridges, and 43 .22 caliber ammunition rounds were confiscated. Three mobile phones and various documents deemed relevant to the investigation were also seized.

Fugitive Status and Ongoing Search

Ortigoza, aged 27, reportedly fled before she could be apprehended by law enforcement. She is now considered a fugitive and is believed to be with her partner, Ángel Daniel Paz, 34. While one individual, Norberto Hernán Aliano, 42, was arrested during the coordinated raids, the search for Ortigoza and Paz continues.

Investigation Initiated by Anonymous Tip

The investigation into the alleged drug-related activities began in March following an anonymous tip. The tip reported suspicious activities related to street-level drug dealing at a residence in Castelar, within the Morón district. Neighbors in the area reportedly observed frequent comings and goings of cars and motorcycles at Ortigoza’s residence on Isabel Pardo and Presidente Ortiz streets, particularly since the summer.

Judicial Order and Law Enforcement Actions

Based on the information gathered, the Functional Unit of Instruction and Trial (UFIyJ) No. 9 of Morón initiated an investigation. The Federal Police were able to establish that the illicit operations involved two individuals: one responsible for storing the substances and another who distributed and sold them via motorcycle, operating as a “delivery” service. The authorities also determined that the individuals involved frequently changed their sales locations among various properties in Castelar to avoid attracting attention. The Justice of Guarantees No. 1 of the Morón Judicial Department, presided over by Judge Laura Pinto, subsequently issued the order for the eight simultaneous raids.

Mayor Expresses Disappointment

Morón Mayor Lucas Ghi stated that he felt “betrayed” by the situation and confirmed that the municipality immediately severed any ties with Ortigoza upon being informed by the police. He emphasized that no institutional relationship should impede the investigation. Ghi noted that Ortigoza had been employed by the municipality since the previous administration and had not previously exhibited any behavior that would raise suspicions regarding her professional conduct. The Secretary of Gender, Laura de Peri, also shared that Ortigoza’s daily interactions did not suggest any cause for concern. Ghi distanced himself from Ortigoza, stating he did not have frequent contact with her. He stressed the importance of the justice system thoroughly investigating the case, locating the fugitive, and ensuring that if found responsible, she faces the full extent of the law.
