The Argentine entertainment world, along with countless fans, is mourning the loss of Carlos Alberto Solari, famously known as “Indio” Solari, the iconic vocalist of the influential rock band Patricio Rey y sus Redonditos de Ricota. The legendary musician passed away on Friday, June 5th, at the age of 77.

Public Farewell

Thousands of fans gathered at the José María Gatica municipal micro-stadium in Villa Dominico throughout Sunday to pay their respects and bid a final farewell to Solari. Among the estimated over 200,000 attendees who passed by the coffin were well-known Argentine actors Pablo Echarri and Nancy Dupláa, accompanied by their younger son, Julián Echarri.

Tributes from Echarri and Dupláa

Nancy Dupláa took to her personal Instagram account to share her grief and admiration for Solari. She posted photos from the wake, including one showing the coffin surrounded by fan memorabilia, and another of herself and Echarri. In a touching message, she wrote, “Thank you Indio. Today it hurts… But I have your songs. Resignifying everything… On the bus stop… With my Walkman… Later my Discman, but always with me… Supporting my pains and accompanying my existence… You did me good… Goodbye Mister.”

Later, Dupláa shared a more profound reflection on Solari’s impact: “¿And now?… We are left with your phrases as mantras… And your transcendental guidance as that of every Spiritual King. Now… Let’s get together… Organize and make it count… As you have been preparing us for… The transformation. Goodbye Indio.”

Pablo Echarri also expressed his deep sadness and long-standing fandom for Solari and Los Redondos. He recounted his journey as a fan, attending numerous concerts from his youth. Echarri highlighted Solari’s unique ability to articulate the feelings and experiences of a generation.

“I followed you since I was a kid, everywhere, Cemento, the dives, the stadiums, Racing, Chateau,” Echarri stated in his tribute. “You put music and lyrics to what I felt in my heart and saw around me. You wrote for the girls and boys who didn’t have much more than a worn-out black t-shirt, with your face, canvas sneakers and a few pesos for beer and the ticket.”

He further elaborated on Solari’s profound influence, adding, “At one point I thought you weren’t a musician, I thought you were some kind of angel who saw inside us and put into words the right ones, the ones that move, hurt, the ones that swirl you and also make you dance, the ones that make you understand how difficult and beautiful this life is.”

Echarri concluded his heartfelt message with, “Thank you Indio Solari, you left me much more than beautiful songs. Goodbye.”
