FC Barcelona is navigating a critical period as the 2025-26 fiscal year draws to a close on June 30th. The club is reportedly on the verge of making several significant official announcements concerning player movements and contract renewals, with Ansu Fati and Andreas Christensen at the forefront of these developments.

Ansu Fati’s Monaco Move Imminent

Intense negotiations are expected to conclude between Monday and Tuesday, with Barcelona poised to formalize the transfer of forward Ansu Fati to AS Monaco. The deal is reportedly valued at €11 million, with Monaco set to exercise a pre-agreed purchase option. This figure is crucial for Barcelona’s financial accounts, as it will be factored into the current fiscal year’s results.

Ansu Fati, aged 23, has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract with the French club, having impressed during his loan spell this season, scoring 11 goals. The transfer fee of €11 million is understood to be payable in two installments.

Christensen’s Renewal Expected

In addition to Fati’s departure, Barcelona also anticipates making official the contract renewal of Danish defender Andreas Christensen. The agreement is understood to be for two seasons, with an option for a third year to be evaluated at the end of the first campaign.

Hansi Flick’s confidence in Christensen, who featured in 12 matches last season before a knee injury, has been instrumental in the player accepting Barcelona’s offer, despite more lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabia, the Premier League, and the Bundesliga. Christensen, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Chelsea in 2022, has spent four seasons at the club, winning three La Liga titles. He has expressed contentment in Catalonia and is reportedly feeling at home.

The defender’s renewal, though potentially announced imminently, will see the new contract signed in Joan Laporta’s office after he officially assumes the presidency on July 1st. Similar administrative processes are expected for the previously announced renewals of Juliano Belletti and Pere Romeu as coaches of Barça Atlètic and the Barça women’s team, respectively.

Women’s Team Facing Departures

The end of the fiscal year also marks the expiration of contracts for several prominent players in Barcelona’s women’s team. Alexia Putellas, Mapi León, and Ona Batlle will officially become free agents on June 30th. Reports suggest that Putellas and León are heading to London City Lionesses, while Batlle is being linked with Arsenal.

Further uncertainty surrounds Caroline Graham Hansen, Marta Torrejón, and Salma Paralluelo. While there is optimism regarding the renewals of Graham Hansen and Torrejón, Paralluelo’s future appears to be away from Barcelona, with the club reportedly finding her contract demands beyond their financial scope. Paralluelo, aged 22, has not accepted Barcelona’s renewal offer and is in discussions with other major European clubs. The club awaits her final decision before her official departure.

Graham Hansen, the team’s top assist provider with 15 in the 2025-26 season, and Torrejón, a long-serving player, are nearing agreement on contract extensions, though official announcements might extend beyond July 1st. Torrejón, in particular, is expected to become the first captain following Alexia Putellas’ departure.
