Vilassar Mar has announced the appointment of Met Bourdeau as the new manager of their Tercera División first team. At just 27 years old, Bourdeau becomes the youngest coach in the division, marking a significant step in his burgeoning coaching career. The appointment signifies a new chapter for the club, which has opted for a homegrown talent to lead its senior squad.

Bourdeau’s Coaching Journey

The new Vilassar Mar manager shared details of his extensive experience in youth football. “First, I want to highlight that my whole family is from Vilassar de Mar where we had a toy store,” Bourdeau began, establishing his deep roots in the town. His football career began at 16, balancing playing with coaching two youth teams. Over eight seasons, he progressed to become a coordinator, achieving notable success with two promotions to División de Honor with the Cadete A team and one with the Infantil A.

His path then led him to Girona, where he managed the Infantil ‘Sub 13’ team, securing the league title by defeating rivals Barcelona twice, and also winning the Copa Catalunya against the same opposition. In his second season with Girona, Bourdeau coached the Cadete ‘Sub 15’ team, finishing fourth in the league. While his teams did not lose to Barcelona in league matches during this period, recording one win and one draw, his time with the Catalan club concluded.

A New Beginning at Vilassar Mar

Following a period where Espanyol managed the first team, covering all expenses and operational aspects, Vilassar Mar is embarking on a fresh start under Bourdeau’s leadership. “The downside is that we have to start from scratch, and the upside, on the other hand, is that everything is new, so we can assemble a squad of our choosing,” Bourdeau explained about the club’s current situation.

Despite his lack of experience in Tercera Federación, Bourdeau expressed his aspirations for the upcoming season. “On my return to Vilassar, despite my inexperience in Tercera Federación, I hope that with the help of the coaching staff and this great squad, I aspire to grow as a coach and keep the team out of any danger. I am sure that with this Vilassar Mar, our fans will enjoy themselves,” he stated.

The squad is set to be bolstered by the addition of four more players next week. The current roster includes:

Goalkeepers: Agustín Mora (Vic) and Pol Cordero (Cornellà)
Defenders: Albert Estellés (Vic), Adrià Mora (Vilanova), Gerard Barri (Cerdanyola), Josep Roma (Peralada), and Pau Guillem (Manresa)
Midfielders: Esteve Monterde (Cerdanyola), Joan Páez (Montañesa), Víctor Granero (unattached), Pol Cuatrecases (Peralada), and Javi Antoñedo (L’Hospitalet)
Forwards: Salim (Espanyol), Pau Almarcha (Argentona), and Sehou Omar Sarr (Tona)

This appointment signals a strategic move by Vilassar Mar to invest in young, local coaching talent, aiming for stability and growth in the challenging Tercera División. Bourdeau’s extensive background in youth development and his clear ambition suggest a promising, albeit challenging, future for the club.
