FC Barcelona has reportedly made significant headway in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, securing a verbal agreement with the player, according to MARCA. The Catalan giants are now engaged in negotiations with the German club to iron out the specific financial terms of a potential transfer.

Por que importa

This development signals a potential major acquisition for Barcelona, driven by the apparent endorsement of manager Hansi Flick. Flick, who has previously expressed admiration for Adeyemi’s playing style, is understood to have formally requested the signing to the club’s sporting directorate, led by Deco. The German coach reportedly believes Adeyemi’s attributes align perfectly with his tactical vision for the team.

Adeyemi, whose name has been linked with Barcelona in past transfer windows since his time at Red Bull Salzburg, currently has a contract with Dortmund extending until June 30, 2027. This contractual situation places pressure on Borussia Dortmund to negotiate, as they risk losing the player on a free transfer if he enters the final year of his contract without an extension or sale.

The ongoing discussions between Barcelona and Dortmund are focused on the definitive transfer fee. While a verbal agreement with the player suggests a strong intent from Barcelona’s side, the finalization of the deal hinges on reaching a consensus with his current club over the financial aspects of the move.

For Barcelona, securing a player like Adeyemi, who is known for his pace and attacking flair, could bolster their offensive capabilities. For Dortmund, a successful transfer could provide valuable funds to reinvest in their squad.
