Bayern Munich 5-0 Bodø/Glimt: Musiala, Kane and Olise Star in Champions League Opener
Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign with a dominant 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt, with second-half goals from Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and a brace from Michael Olise.

Bayern Munich made a statement of intent in their first UEFA Champions League group-stage fixture of the season, defeating Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt 5-0 at the Allianz Arena. After a frustrating first half in which the visitors’ defence held firm, Vincent Kompany’s side exploded after the break with five unanswered goals to kick off their European campaign in style.
The result keeps Bayern unbeaten across all competitions this season and sends a clear message to rivals in Group D. Jamal Musiala, Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and a double from Michael Olise shared the goals, while Bodø/Glimt finished the match with ten men after Odin Bjørtuft was sent off late on.
First half: Bayern dominant but frustrated
Kompany made three changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Schalke at the weekend, bringing Musiala, Olise and Kane into the starting eleven. From the opening whistle, Bayern controlled possession and created several clear chances.
Luis Díaz headed narrowly over from a Joshua Kimmich cross in the fifth minute. Kimmich himself struck the post in the 35th minute, and Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin produced a sharp save to deny the German midfielder again before half-time. Despite Bayern’s dominance, the score remained 0-0 at the break, with the Norwegian side’s disciplined defensive shape proving difficult to break down.
Second half: Bayern turn on the style
The deadlock was broken just two minutes after the restart. A blocked Kane effort fell kindly for Musiala, who swept a tidy half-volley into the net from close range to make it 1-0 in the 47th minute.
Kane doubled the lead in the 61st minute, heading home from close range after Olise’s free-kick found him unmarked in the box. The English striker’s goal gave Bayern breathing room, and the floodgates opened.
Alphonso Davies added a spectacular third in the 77th minute. After Bodø/Glimt failed to clear a corner, the Canadian full-back met the loose ball on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable rocket into the top corner.
Olise then got on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute, curling an inch-perfect effort into the top-left corner after cutting inside from the right flank. The French winger’s performance was rewarded with a second goal in stoppage time, pouncing on a defensive error to complete the rout.
Bodø/Glimt’s misery was compounded in the 87th minute when Bjørtuft was shown a straight red card for fouling Olise as the last defender.

What this means for Bayern’s campaign
For Bayern supporters and neutral observers tracking the Champions League, this result confirms that Kompany’s side are serious contenders for a seventh European crown. The depth of attacking options—Musiala’s creativity, Kane’s finishing, Davies’ dynamism and Olise’s flair—gives Bayern multiple ways to break down opponents.
The clean sheet will also please the coaching staff. After a goalless draw in the Bundesliga at the weekend, the defence looked solid against a Bodø/Glimt side that had caused problems for European giants in previous seasons.
Bodø/Glimt, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly. Their defensive organisation held for 47 minutes, but the collapse after the first goal raises questions about stamina and concentration against elite opposition. They face a tough road ahead in Group D.
Looking ahead
Bayern travel to Norway to face Viking in their next Champions League fixture on 13 October. Bodø/Glimt will look to bounce back in their second group match, though they face a difficult task to stay competitive after this heavy defeat.
