The month of June presents a series of decisive moments for Empoli, as the club confronts crucial decisions concerning both the coaching staff and the composition of the squad for the next season. At the forefront of these discussions is the future of current coach Fabio Caserta. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and the club is reportedly considering extending his tenure. This decision will significantly influence the subsequent transfer market strategies and the overall direction of the team.

Managerial Options

While Fabio Caserta remains a strong possibility to continue, Empoli is also exploring alternative managerial profiles, particularly those with emerging talent from Serie C. Among the names being considered are former Empoli player Antonio Buscé, who has experience coaching in the club’s youth sector, Pietro De Giorgio, Vinicio Espinal, and Emanuele Troise. The choice of coach will set the tone for the club’s philosophy and approach to player recruitment and development in the coming campaign.

Squad Construction Philosophy

Once the managerial decision is finalized, Empoli’s focus will shift to building a competitive squad. The club is expected to maintain its established philosophy of developing homegrown talent from its youth academy and identifying promising prospects from lower leagues. This approach aims to create a sustainable model that balances immediate competitiveness with long-term value creation.

Key Transfer Targets

In line with this strategy, Empoli is actively pursuing several potential signings. Luigi Caccavo, a 2004-born striker who impressed with 11 goals for Lumezzane last season, has emerged as a target. Sporting director Stefanelli is also monitoring Giacomo Olzer, who is reportedly set to leave Pescara, and Mehdi Dorval, who is likely to depart Bari following their relegation to Serie C. The club is also keen to secure the future of young striker Bohdan Popov, who has attracted interest from Cagliari in Italy and from clubs in Germany and France.

Potential Departures and Loan Returns

The upcoming transfer window will also see a number of players depart Empoli as their loan spells conclude. The club hopes to retain some of these players if possible. This includes goalkeeper Fulignati (Cremonese), defender Lovato (Salernitana), and winger Moruzzi (Juventus). Several other players, including Fila, Nasti, Ilie, Obaretin, Ghion, and Candela, are expected to return to their parent clubs, with their futures to be decided later in the summer. These departures will create space in the squad and necessitate further recruitment efforts.

Datos clave

These decisions are critical for Empoli’s ability to compete effectively in Serie B. The club’s success in navigating the transfer market and securing the right coaching staff will determine their prospects for promotion or stability in the league. The focus on developing young talent, combined with shrewd signings, will be key to their aspirations for the upcoming season.
