FC Twente is embarking on their European journey as they prepare for the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. Having secured a fourth-place finish in the Eredivisie last season, the club is set to face a rigorous path through multiple qualification stages to secure a spot in the main tournament.

Pre-season Preparations

The Tukkers have already begun their pre-season preparations, with a 1-0 victory against Aberdeen marking their first friendly match. A training camp in Tegelen from July 6th to July 11th is underway, followed by further friendlies against PAOK Saloniki on July 11th and a double-header against AA Gent on July 18th. These matches are crucial for the team’s physical and tactical readiness ahead of their European debut.

The Europa League Journey Begins

FC Twente’s European campaign will commence in the second qualifying round of the Europa League. The draw for this round has already taken place, pitting Twente against the winner of the tie between FK Vojvodina and Ferencváros. These initial matches are scheduled for July 23rd and July 30th.

Navigating the Rounds

Should FC Twente successfully overcome their opponent in the second qualifying round, they will advance to the third qualifying round. The draw for this stage, along with the play-off round, is set for July 20th, before the second qualifying round matches are even completed. The third qualifying round fixtures are scheduled for August 6th and August 13th.

The final hurdle before the main tournament is the Europa League play-off round. The draw for the play-offs will occur on August 3rd, with the matches taking place on August 20th and August 27th. A victory in the play-offs will see FC Twente enter the Europa League group stage.

Conference League Alternative

In the event of a loss in the second qualifying round, FC Twente will be relegated to the third qualifying round of the Europa League Conference League. Similarly, if they are defeated in the Europa League play-offs, they will secure a place in the group stage of the Conference League. The draw for the Europa League group stage is scheduled for August 28th, with the competition commencing on September 16th and 17th.
