French Singer Patrick Bruel Charged with Rape and Assault
French music and film star Patrick Bruel faces multiple charges, including rape and sexual assault, as a judicial investigation expands.

French singer and actor Patrick Bruel has been charged with rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment, according to reports from Nanterre, a suburb of Paris. The charges stem from a broader judicial inquiry into alleged sexual offenses.
Bruel, aged 67, was arrested earlier this week as part of a large-scale investigation into sexual violence. The inquiry is reportedly examining potential criminal acts in France, Switzerland, and Belgium.
Growing Accusations
Justice officials initially reported thirteen suspected victims on Monday. Since then, further accusations have emerged. On Tuesday, a 46-year-old actress filed a complaint for attempted rape, alleging that Bruel attempted to rape her in his Paris home in 2000 when she was 19 years old. The identity of the actress has not been disclosed.
French media outlet BFMTV reports that at least 26 women have accused Bruel of sexual violence or sexual harassment. Some of the alleged incidents are said to be beyond the statute of limitations.
The case gained public attention through the work of French investigative journalists. Among those who came forward with accusations was presenter Flavie Flament, who stated that Bruel drugged and raped her when she was 16 years old.
Bruel Denies Allegations
During his interrogation, the singer denied all charges. One of Bruel’s lawyers, Fanny Colin, stated that the singer is cooperating with the investigation and remains “at the disposal of the judicial authorities.”
A prominent figure in France, Patrick Bruel has sold millions of records and appeared in numerous films. In response to the accusations, he has canceled all concerts scheduled until September.
