Frosinone President Stirpe: No Formal Offer for Ghedjemis, Algorithm Backed Hasa and Zerbin Signings
Frosinone president Maurizio Stirpe confirms no official bid for top talent Ghedjemis this summer, defends the club's use of data algorithms in scouting, and reveals how technology confirmed the signings of Hasa and Zerbin from Napoli.

Frosinone president Maurizio Stirpe has clarified the club’s position on top prospect Ghedjemis and detailed the growing role of data algorithms in the club’s transfer strategy. Speaking at the “Festival dello Sport” in Veroli, Stirpe addressed a range of topics, from the emotional memory of past promotions to the new investment by Clara Vista and the club’s fight to stay in Serie A.
Ghedjemis stays – no official bid yet
Stirpe confirmed that no formal offer has been received for Ghedjemis during the current summer window, despite strong interest from a major club in January. At that time, the player was given a clear picture of the situation and expressed his desire to remain at Frosinone. “If he stays here, we are very happy – we have no need to sell him at all costs,” Stirpe said. The president’s remarks put to rest speculation that the club might be forced to part with their most valuable asset, at least for now.
The rise of the algorithm in Frosinone’s scouting
A key theme of Stirpe’s appearance was the integration of technology into the club’s daily operations. The president stressed that the algorithm is not a replacement for human judgment but a complementary tool. “It must be used without prejudice or distrust, as clubs like Brentford and Brighton already do in the Premier League,” he said. “The algorithm is an integrated instrument that adds to scouting and managerial skills – it is not a totem to be obeyed blindly. If a data-driven choice does not convince, the human must be able to say no.”
Stirpe revealed that the recent signings of Hasa and Zerbin from Napoli were a direct example of this hybrid approach. Hasa was already on the club’s internal list and was also proposed by the algorithm, confirming the quality of the profile. Zerbin, on the other hand, was a personal suggestion from Stirpe and sporting director Castagnini. The software was asked to evaluate him and returned “amply positive data” showing the player was underutilised relative to his potential.

A new era of ambition
Stirpe made clear that the investments in technology and the new partnership with Clara Vista are not vanity projects. “We did all this not for vanity or to talk, but to give ourselves a chance and a hope we never had before: to achieve the goal of staying in Serie A.” He acknowledged that Frosinone has historically struggled to consolidate in the top flight, having tried three times under the old management without success. “This for me is a true act of generosity toward the fans and the territory – to give the hope of accomplishing a feat never achieved before.”
The president also praised the work of sporting director Renzo Castagnini, who was given full technical control. “If the president chooses the director and then wants to be the coach or pick the players, something jams in the chain of command,” Stirpe noted. Castagnini’s ability to connect with the squad and transform the group was described as “disarming”.
Fan culture and the future
Stirpe took pride in the local fanbase’s shift in allegiance. “The children now say: first Frosinone, then the others. The real owners of a club are the fans. My greatest pride is seeing the kids today – when you ask who they support, they answer ‘first Frosinone’ and then maybe the others. When we were small, we said Roma or other big clubs. That hierarchy has changed, and that is our most beautiful victory.”
He also confirmed that he has no fixed-term contract as president, saying he will stay as long as he is useful and not an obstacle. Regarding the relationship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, Stirpe described him as a very direct person, sometimes too much, but said they have a relationship of frankness and mutual respect.
