Juventus has reportedly initiated contact with Aston Villa regarding a potential transfer for their star goalkeeper, Emi Martínez. According to Sky Sport, Aston Villa has lowered their valuation of the Argentine international, with initial demands of €15 million now reportedly reduced to a range of €6-7 million.

This development could pave the way for Juventus to make a more concrete move for the World Cup winner, who has been a standout performer for the English club. The transfer saga is expected to remain in a holding pattern until after Martínez concludes his World Cup duties with Argentina.

Carnevali’s Agent Connection

A key factor that could facilitate this transfer is the reported relationship between Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali and the player’s agent, Vlado Lemic. Fabrizio Romano highlights that Carnevali’s prior dealings with Lemic, specifically during Nemanja Matić’s move to Sassuolo when Carnevali was in charge, could be instrumental in unlocking negotiations. This established rapport might provide Juventus with an advantage in securing the goalkeeper.

Martínez Open to Juventus Move

Despite Juventus’s absence from the upcoming Champions League, Emi Martínez has reportedly expressed a strong interest in a move to the Turin-based club. Sources close to the goalkeeper indicate that he views Juventus as a prestigious destination, with the alleged remark, “Juve is always Juve,” underscoring his admiration for the Italian giants. This personal willingness to join the Bianconeri is a significant boost for their transfer aspirations.

Aston Villa’s Stance and Alternative Options

The entire operation remains heavily dependent on Aston Villa’s final decision regarding the transfer fee and their willingness to part ways with Martínez. Juventus is understood to be making repeated attempts to reach an agreement, but the English club’s valuation will ultimately dictate the outcome.

In the event that the pursuit of Martínez proves unsuccessful, Juventus is reportedly considering Guglielmo Vicario as a primary alternative. The Italian goalkeeper is currently facing an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur, and a move to Juventus could offer him a fresh start and potentially be concluded swiftly.

Key facts

The potential acquisition of Emi Martínez represents a significant move for Juventus as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options. His proven track record and international experience would undoubtedly bolster the squad, even without Champions League football next season. The club’s proactive approach in exploring transfer targets, coupled with the leverage provided by agent connections, signals a determined effort to secure key signings. The situation with Aston Villa’s valuation and Martínez’s personal wishes will be crucial in determining the success of this pursuit.
