Racing Rejects Vasco da Gama’s Bid for Captain Santiago Sosa – Talks Continue

Racing Club has rejected a formal offer from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama for captain Santiago Sosa, according to club sources. The proposal, reported to be around $7.5 million, was deemed insufficient by the Argentine club, which is holding out for a fee close to $10 million. Negotiations remain open, and Vasco is expected to make a revised bid in the coming hours.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who played the full 90 minutes in Racing’s 2-1 win over Gimnasia LP in the Clausura opener, has been a key figure since arriving in early 2024. His potential departure would leave a significant gap in the midfield.

The offer details

Vasco da Gama, currently competing in the Copa Sudamericana playoffs, has been tracking Sosa since 2025. The Brazilian club’s initial offer of $7.5 million was quickly rejected. Racing’s counter-demand is $10 million, a figure that reflects Sosa’s importance to the squad and his remaining contract, which runs until the end of 2027.
