AC Milan has officially confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the new head coach of their men’s first team, signaling a new era for the Italian giants. The announcement follows a disappointing season that led to a technical reset within the club. Amorim, who previously managed Sporting CP and Manchester United, brings a track record of success, including multiple Portuguese league titles, League Cups, and a Super Cup.

Amorim’s Coaching Journey

Ruben Amorim began his coaching career in 2018 after concluding his playing days with clubs like Belenenses and Benfica, and representing the Portuguese national team. His early coaching experiences at Casa Pia and Braga paved the way for his successful tenure at Sporting CP in 2020. During his time with Sporting, he cultivated a distinct playing style, emphasizing innovation and player development, which resulted in significant achievements: two Portuguese league championships, two League Cups, and one Super Cup. His most recent role was as manager of Manchester United before his move to Milan.

Amorim expressed his long-held ambition to manage AC Milan, stating, “There are ambitions that accompany you throughout your career and, for me, managing Milan has always been one of them.” He acknowledged the club’s rich history, prestige, and global fanbase, describing the challenge as one he embraces with pride and enthusiasm. “I know perfectly what this Club represents: history, prestige, and an extraordinary fanbase all over the world. It is a challenge that I face with pride and enthusiasm, with full awareness of what these colors mean. I can’t wait to start and to live every day the passion that animates Milan,” he added. AC Milan extended a warm welcome to Amorim and his staff.

Camarda Transfer Situation

In a separate development, young striker Francesco Camarda has officially become a Lecce player, at least temporarily. The Salento club announced they have exercised their option to acquire the 2008-born forward on a permanent basis. However, AC Milan retains a crucial three-day window, from June 18 to June 20, to exercise a counter-option and bring the promising young talent back to Milan. The club’s official statement read: “U.S. Lecce announces that it has exercised the option right for the definitive acquisition of the footballer Francesco Camarda from A.C. Milan, who has the faculty to exercise the counter-option from June 18 to 20.”

Premier League Interest in Thuram

Khephren Thuram continues to be a subject of interest for several European clubs. After rejecting approaches from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, the Juventus midfielder has now attracted attention from the Premier League. According to market expert Matteo Moretto, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest have made initial inquiries regarding the possibility of a transfer. While no official offers have been submitted, both English clubs have reportedly shown interest in the 2001-born player. Juventus, however, is not actively seeking to sell Thuram but might consider a significant offer. The Bianconeri are reportedly seeking around €45-50 million for the midfielder, a figure that would represent a substantial capital gain for the club.

Arthur Melo’s Future Elsewhere

The future of midfielder Arthur Melo will not involve a continued stay at Grêmio. The Brazilian club confirmed the termination of his contract on X, stating: “Grêmio informs the termination of the bond with midfielder Arthur. Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense informs that the midfielder Arthur will not have his bond extended after the end of the contractual loan period with Juventus-ITA, expiring on June 30, 2026. Faced with the manifestation of interest for the athlete’s permanence, the Club formalized a proposal for a new employment contract. There was no financial agreement between the parties involved, despite the mutual intention of continuity of his career at the Arena. Grêmio thanks the athlete for the services rendered and wishes success in his sporting continuation.” Despite a mutual desire to continue, financial disagreements prevented an agreement for the loan extension.

Fiorentina’s Future Plans

At Fiorentina, the club’s management is actively shaping the team for the upcoming season. Discussions between the club’s directors, including General Director Alessandro Ferrari and Sporting Director Fabio Paratici, and the ownership in the United States have focused on summer transfer market strategies. Regarding outgoing players, Fiorentina faces decisions on several individuals whose market appeal and value have declined. This includes defender Pietro Comuzzo, who had a season to forget, and Giovanni Fabbian, who arrived in January and was bought outright after the team secured survival, but had an underwhelming five months. However, reports suggest Fiorentina intends to continue relying on both players for the next season unless exceptional offers are received.

The situation is different for Niccolò Fortini, another young player who experienced a challenging first Serie A season. Unlike last summer, when Fiorentina protected the 2006-born player from interest from Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, Fortini is now considered not entirely unsellable. While no official offers have been made, his contract renewal remains stalled, suggesting a potential separation between the player and the club. If no suitable proposals materialize, Fortini is expected to remain at Fiorentina until his contract expires in June 2027.

Rudiger Extends Real Madrid Stay

In other transfer news, Antonio Rüdiger has extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2027.
